Make your own floral water!
You will need: A large metal pot with glass dome lid, a ceramic ramekin, flowers, cutting board, knife, bottled water, turkey baster, ice.
In the center of your large pot, place ceramic ramekin as your “catch bowl”. This is where the floral water will fall. Some people use bricks below their catch bowl but I’ve always thought that makes my water smell a little dirty. Instead I use a ceramic ramekin that can withstand higher heat. I’ve never had a problem with the ramekin getting too hot and “cooking” the fragrance. But if you want to put a brick under as a buffer, go for it!
Pull the petals off of your flowers and give them a little chop. Not too much– I just do it to help release the fragrance.
Pile the flowers around the ceramic ramekin as you see in photo 3. Add 1 1/2 cups of water for each cup of flowers. Note: Depending on where you live, I suggest using bottled water. If there’s any unwanted bacteria in your tap water, you certainly don’t want to bottle it up. Could get gross, fast!
Place your glass lid upside down on the pot. Add a tray of ice on top. Without going into too much detail- the cold temperature of the ice will help procure condensation underneath the lid.
Place it on the stovetop on low. I used a turkey baster to clear away the ice as it melted. Watch your flowers– once the color is gone from the petals, lift the lid. You should end up with a small amount of clear liquid inside your ramekin.
Use a turkey baster to transfer the floral water into a bottle. You may have to repeat the process to get an entire bottle full. Tighten the lid and spray away!!
Split an avocado, remove the seed and spoon the whole thing into the blender bowl (or blender cup in this case).
Add a little less than 1/4 teaspoon of Vitamin E oil. If you have Vitamin E gel capsules, pierce them and squeeze out the oil. If you’d rather, you can buy the oil for topical use.
Pour 1 teaspoon of your favorite oil– jojoba, olive oil, sweet almond oil or coconut oil. I usually stick to olive oil because it’s worked wonders for me every time with this mask.
Blend it up until it reaches a whipped/creamy consistency.
Application:
You can either put apply this all over or your can do the ponytail method! Put your hair up in a ponytail, saturate the ends and then cover with plastic wrap. Try to give it about 10 minutes at the least, go for 20 if you have the time! Then hop in the shower, shampoo and condition as usual. Blow your hair out or air dry for soft, shiny goodness!
DIY Whitening Formula
What you’ll need:
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 – 4 drops of hydrogen peroxide
- A washcloth or cotton ball
How to:
- Combine the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide together in a small bowl. Stir until they create a thick toothpaste-like consistency. You may need to add more hydrogen peroxide to attain the optimal texture.
- Dip your washcloth or cotton ball into the concoction and rub onto your teeth.
- Avoid your gums, as this mixture could cause irritation.
- Allow to sit for 3 – 5 minutes, then rinse well with warm water.
Handmade Natural Lip Gloss DIY - Homemade Lip Gloss Recipe for Rich Moisture and Shine
Ingredients:
2 measured Tablespoons beeswax
1/2 ounce (by weight) cocoa butter
1/2 ounce (by weight) shea butter
1/2 ounce (by weight) hemp seed butter (or additional 1/2 oz. shea butter and 1 teaspoon hemp seed oil)
1 measured Tablespoon avocado oil
1 measured Tablespoon wheat germ oil
1 ml vitamin E oil
1 ml jojoba oil
Supplies:
Spoon
Large Glass Pyrex Measuring Cup
Microwave (or double boiler)
Digital scale
10 - 1/4 oz. plastic jars with lids
glass dropper or 3ml Graduated Plastic Transfer Pipettes
Instructions:
In a double boiler or microwave, start by melting your solid ingredients first starting with the beeswax. Measure out the beeswax using a Tablespoon measurement and add to the glass measuring cup. Melt on reduced power in the microwave. Weigh out the cocoa butter and once the beeswax is mostly melted through, add the cocoa butter and continue heating until melted completely. Next, weigh out the hemp and shea butters, then stir in your butters and mix well. Heat for an additional 30 seconds if needed, then measure out the avocado and wheat germ oils and stir in with the butters and beeswax. Finally, use a pipette to measure out the jojoba and vitamin E oils and stir into the lip gloss mixture. Slowly pour the liquid lip gloss into lip gloss pots and allow to cool completely. Then tightly screw on the cap and store in a cool, dry location.
1. Apply a neutral shadow to the upper eyelid to create a nice even base. Using a rounded mini dome brush, apply dark shadow to the crease of your upper eyelid.
2. Use an angled brush to apply black eyeliner along the upper lash line.
3. Apply individual fake eyelashes to your upper and lower lash lines. Tip: Add longer lashes to the top lash line!
4. Apply a final swipe of black mascara to your upper lash line, and ta da!
1. Gather your hair into a low ponytail on one side of your head.
2. Create a small hole in your hair just above the hair elastic.
3. Flip the rest of your ponytail up and through this hole. Tug on the loose hair to make the ponytail more or less snug.
1. Gather all of your hair into a ponytail on top of your head. Pull your hair through the hair elastic once, create the first twist, then pull your hair halfway through the loop to create the first side of your bow.
2. Make a second loop by twisting the part of the elastic that’s on top of the ponytail. Pull the rest of your hair halfway through this new loop. This will be the second side of your bow.
3. Gently twist the two loops into a bow shape, and use bobby pins to secure it. Wrap the end of your ponytail around the middle of the bow to hide the hair elastic.
1. Create two small French braids, one on either side of your head, that run from the crown of your head to the nape of your neck. Work closely to your face to create a halo shape. (New to French braiding? Check out this video for some pointers!)
2. When you reach the nape of your neck, braid the rest of the hair into a pigtail.
3. Wrap each pigtail around the opposite side of your head, and pin it alongside the French-braided hair.
DIY Dry Shampoo
“Simply mix together the ingredients listed in the graphic above, stirring rigorously for about 3-4 minutes. Then, shake directly onto roots, or place in hands and rub into the root area. Brush to blend, distributing it evenly before styling as usual.”
Lilac eyes pastel makeup wedding
1. With a white or creamy-colored pencil, draw a line beneath the brow, following its natural shape.
2. Blend with a thin foundation brush. This will hide little hairs in case you’ve forgotten to pluck!
3. Cream shadows are super easy to work with in a cinch. Use your finger or a cream shadow brush to apply a lavendar or lilac color, covering your whole lid until the crease. Applying a powder color in the same type of shade directly on top of the cream shadow will help it last longer just like a powder foundation on top of liquid foundation does.
4. Apply mascara, and make sure it’s waterproof, so it stays put if you cry!
5. For a ‘doe-eyed’ look, run a white pencil directly onto the water line. Look straight up when you do it, then close your eyes really tight to help set it. This will make your eyes pop in photos, even from far away.
Braided updo for short hair tutorial
1. Start my working a small amount of the balm through dry hair.
2. For Anna’s style we created nine braids total. Start by braiding each side towards the back.
3. Create three braids on either side of your head, and three braids in the back.
4. Secure each braid with a clear elastic.
5. Using your bobby pins, take the three braids from one side and twist them together, pinning in place behind your head.
6. Repeat with the other side, leaving the remaining braids loose.
7. Gather the three remaining braids and bring them up and over where the two gathered sides meet, tuck and pin with bobby pins, being sure to hide the elastics.
